ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Position Summary
Responsible for managing the general accounting function. Oversees the completion of ledger accounts and financial statements. Evaluates and makes appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of our organization.
Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Directs staffing, training, and performance management to develop and improve the accounting function
  • Manages the accounting functions including accounts payable, invoicing, and payroll
  • Implements and manages the proper internal controls to contain costs and increase efficiencies
  • Directs and performs month-end closing transactions including preparation of key reports
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes reports and data, making recommendations for improvement
  • Maintains and reviews records and data to ensure compliance with all corporate policies and all GAAP, local, state and federal law
  • Assists in the preparation and development of annual budget and forecasts
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives for accounting process and information flow
  • Oversees accounting information management system

Essential to this Position
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Corporate Accounting Management Team. You will be responsible for training and developing the Accounting Team, reviewing financial statements, journal entries, account analysis and reconciliations to ensure compliance with company policy and generally accepted accounting principles and driving process improvements within the accounting function.

Position Essentials:

  • Mentor the team and actively participate in process improvement initiatives utilizing problem solving tools and working collaboratively with cross functional teams
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Prepare financial management reports and analysis ensuring integrity of data
  • Evaluate systems and procedures for process improvements (controls, efficiency and effectiveness)
  • Assist with the preparation of internal and external audit deliverables
  • Perform special projects as needed in support of business change
  • Other duties as assigned

At least 6 years relevant experience

  • Knowledge of finance, financial methods, tools and strategies
  • Ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
  • Knowledge of and ability to use processes, tools and techniques for exploring and evaluating alternative financial scenarios and results
  • Knowledge of the functions, tools and processes needed to manage financial assets and liabilities throughout the organization
  • Knowledge of the methods, processes, and tools for maintaining the books of the organization and preparing financial statements and reports
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting applications specific to the organization

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
  • Previous experience in public accounting and knowledge of auditing practices a plus
  • Strong accounting background, with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and processes
  • Knowledge of financial reporting
  • Proficiency in relevant accounting software preferred (SAP, Hyperion (HFM)/FCCS, Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, while maintaining a broader perspective
  • Prioritization and organization skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and continuously looks for process improvements
  • Desire and ability to learn and develop into a senior financial leader
  • Comfortable interfacing with Senior Finance Leaders and other functional leaders
  • Passion for understanding the business and how to improve it
  • Keen awareness of the interdependency of processes and systems
