Job Summary
This position performs journey level maintenance, repair, and/or operational activities in assigned area of responsibility. Typical duties may include: coordinating the work of lower level staff; troubleshooting problems; providing customer service; operating and maintaining complex vehicles and/or equipment; performing vehicle and/or equipment repairs; and, troubleshooting complex maintenance and operational problems. Essential Duties
1. Performs journey-level maintenance and repair; work may involve diagnosing and troubleshooting complex maintenance and operational-related problems related to vehicles, equipment, building systems, water distribution and collection systems, and/or streets, including sidewalks and curbs.

2. Coordinates or performs maintenance work on water distribution systems, and streets, including sidewalks and curbs; work may include, but not be limited to, inspecting, operating, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting issues related to utility equipment and systems; locating utilities; and/or removing and replacing concrete.

3. Inspects, operates, and maintains complex vehicles, tools, and equipment, including hand and power tools, HVAC and other electrical controls, gauges, volt meters, radiators, safety devices, computer controls, converters, compressors, pumps, jet trucks, and/or bull dozers.

4. May coordinate the work of lower level staff and temporary workers, to include prioritizing and assigning work, monitoring work quality, processing payroll data, and/or providing training; monitors inventory to ensure adequate supply of materials and equipment; and monitors compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

5. Provides customer service and coordinates with the public, vendors, and other internal/external departments or agencies to provide assistance and information regarding schedules and ongoing operations, respond to work orders and customer/departmental requests, and facilitate complex maintenance activities and other departmental operations.

6. Prepares, maintains, updates, and/or submits reports, logs, service and other records, and other documentation; and maintains and/or updates applicable databases, records management software and other online systems and software, to ensure accurate and timely documentation, and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

7. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of increasingly responsible experience in assigned area of responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

~ Reading and comprehending manuals, specifications, drawings, and blueprints;

~ Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information. Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as, mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation; extreme temperatures; inadequate lighting; work space-related movement restrictions; and intense noise.
