The Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs, Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center is looking for a full-time Maintenance Repairman 2 to perform skilled work in a variety of trades in order to prepare, maintain, and repair our buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment. This position performs various tasks in plumbing and general carpentry work to repair or install items such as: walls, ceilings, floors, door frames, windows, piping, plumbing fixtures, sinks, lavatories and related equipment, as well as open clogged waste drains, sewers and toilets. You will also perform repairs to heating coils, water/heating lines, electrical lighting fixtures, as well as use and maintenance of various power tools and grounds keeping duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment. 7.5 hours/day; 37.5 hours/week.- Work hours are 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm (2nd shift), with 30-minute lunch.
- Wednesday - Sunday, days off Monday & Tuesday.
- Saturday - Wednesday, days off Thursday & Friday.
- Schedule varies, may change based on operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
-
Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
-
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C Driver's License.
- Willing and able to work in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Formal training in a skilled building, electrical, or mechanical trade.
- Experience in commercial maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Experience in commercial carpentry, electrical, plumbing.
- Experience with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, switch gears and 3-phase panels.
- Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems.
- Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats and
provisions of Life Safety Codes and Uniform Construction Code (UCC). - Structural experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings.
- Experience in the maintenance and /repair of long-term care facility.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
