Summary of Responsibilities:


Would you enjoy working with families that are providing a safe environment for children? Would you enjoy assisting foster families with becoming a Therapeutic Treatment Home (TTH) for children in need? What is a TTH? Good question. A TTH is a licensed foster home with the State of Alaska Office of Children’s Services (OCS) to provide care for youth served by AK Child & Family. As the Community Programs Licensing Supervisor (LS) you will supervise and assist the TTHs in caring for the children.

Success includes:

  • Training as you will provide pre-service training to potential TTHs as well as ongoing training on working with youth that have a variety of behavioral presentations.
  • Coaching TTH foster parents on interventions to use with youth and provide training as needed on trauma informed interventions.
  • Having regular contact with the TTH foster parent as support and documenting the contact in the appropriate agency system.
  • Matching foster youth to an appropriate TTH for placement.
  • Maintaining the TTH license as active and compliant.
  • Completing yearly performance appraisals for TTH foster parents.
  • Holding the TTH parents accountable for ensuring the quality of care is consistent with AK Child & Families’ philosophy of care and services, policies, and mission.
  • Attending all OCS licensing training and be up to date in all OCS licensing policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring TTHs adhere to standards and regulations as set forth by state foster care regulations, agency policy and procedure, the Joint Commission, and OCS licensing including maintaining necessary documentation/paperwork.
  • Addressing compliance/performance concerns/license-related concerns with the TTH foster parents through supervision and/or the agency’s progressive discipline process as needed.
  • Monitoring timely documentation of daily progress notes written by TTH foster parents that will meet Medicaid an agency standards through periodic documentation review.
  • Working with the Admissions and Intake Department, the LS maintains the yearly census goals for the TTH program.
  • Abiding all safety rules and regulations of the family.

All employees with AK Child & Family are required to be in compliance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid COVID vaccine mandate. The mandate requires that by 2/14/22, staff at all health care facilities must have received their first dose of a 2-shot series (Moderna or Pfizer, currently) or a single dose of a 1-shot vaccine (Johnson and Johnson, currently) with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate. Staff must complete this step before they can provide any care, treatment or other services for the facility and/or its patients. By 3/15/22, all staff with the exception of those that have sought and been granted an exemption to the COVID mandate, must complete the primary vaccination series.

Your compensation:

  • $19.00 per hour
  • 3% pay increase after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period.
  • Annual raises are based on the annual budget and not guaranteed each year.

Qualifications:


You will bring your education and experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work or a related field, and two years’ experience working with children with emotional/behavioral challenges and their families is preferred; or
  • Five years’ experience working with children with emotional/behavioral challenges and their families.
  • Must at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have an Alaska driver’s license and have adequate insurance, as defined by AK Child & Family, in order to carry out the duties of the job.
  • Display an understanding and sensitivity in serving a culturally diverse and/or specials needs population.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal English.

You will bring your knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • You must at least 21 years of age.
  • She/he must have an Alaska driver’s license and have adequate insurance, as defined by AK Child & Family, in order to carry out the duties of the job.
  • The LS must display an understanding and sensitivity in serving a culturally diverse and/or specials needs population.
  • The LS must demonstrate proficiency in written and verbal English.
  • The LS must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with agency staff as well as the general public, referral sources and community providers.
  • She/he must work a flexible schedule, including after hours and on-call responsibilities to respond to client crisis.
  • The LS must demonstrate ability to use a computer for both word processing and newsletter production.



Physical Demands:


You will need the ability to:

  • Access AK Child & Family and community buildings for meetings and agency activities.
  • The LS is required to have a valid driver’s license and an adequately insured personal vehicle for reliably getting to and from work responsibilities as work responsibilities require.
  • Transport self within the Anchorage Borough to meet with schools, families and other involved parties.
  • Produce in a timely manner, assessments and other documentation required by AK Child & Family, insurance and referral sources.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including after hours and on-call responsibilities to respond to client crisis.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with agency staff as well as the general public, referral sources and community providers.
  • Demonstrate ability to use a computer for both word processing and newsletter production.
