1. POST CONTEXT

This is a position within the Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), an organization of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
CMRE is an established, world-class scientific research and experimentation facility that organizes and conducts scientific research and technology development, centred on the maritime domain, delivering innovative and field tested Science & Technology (S&T) solutions to address defence and security needs of the Alliance.
This position is within the Integrated Business Support Unit (IBSU), which functions as an administrative staff element within CMRE. It provides a coordinated business operations function with both internal and external facing responsibilities. The IBSU supports the CMRE Director in the planning, execution, and exploitation of the Programme of Work (PoW), while also monitoring: internal key performance indicators and processes; managing external requests, such as assessing business opportunities and the feasibility of new projects; maintaining the business prospect registry; and, performing customer relationship management. The responsibility includes the coordination of internal processes involved in the life cycle of the CMRE’s PoW and its individual projects, staffing of memoranda of understanding (MOU), non-disclosure agreements (NDA) and handling Intellectual Property (IP).

2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES

This internship will be devoted to supporting projects that may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist with the editing, formatting and digitization of Centre publications;
  • Assist in the execution of CMRE’s social media strategy;
o Assist in the creation and posting of social media content to reach CMRE’s target audiences;
o Create, curate and manage digital content
o Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels and design.
  • Maintain and update the CMRE publications database;
  • Assist with the publication of major Centre documents;
  • Create, maintain and update publications templates and guidelines.

3. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL DUTIES

a. Flexibility Clause

  • The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties even in other parts of the organization as directed.
  • As required by the Program of Work, the incumbent may be asked to participate in working groups or project teams.

All other related duties should correspond with the required competencies for the job.

b. Deployment/Travel
The incumbent may be required to perform his/her duties onboard Centre or chartered vessels. The incumbent may be required to undertake TDY assignments within and outside NATO boundaries.

4. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

a. Professional/Experience
No professional experience is required for this position. Please see below for Desirable Qualifications.

b. Education/Training
Must have completed at least 3 years of study and be process of obtaining a Degree in Communications (or similar) for Undergraduates OR have graduated within the last year at the time of application. Graduate students welcome to apply.

c. Language Requirements
A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential and some knowledge of the other is desirable.

5. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience in publication management, editing, and/or library services;
  • Experience in developing social media strategies;
  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts;
  • Experience in Web Content Management;
  • Experience in using presentation software;
  • Experience in graphic design;
  • Experience in editing large documents;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office;
  • Experience in an IT Environment;
  • Knowledge of the Italian language.

6. REMARKS

This internship is open only to nationals of a NATO Member State. Security Clearance at the NATO SECRET level may be requested for you if deemed necessary.
Travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain threshold. Some applicants may be eligible for further remuneration.
The duties are performed indoor and outdoor subject to changing conditions and could involve physical labor. Undesirable working conditions may apply.
