JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Grass Cutter (Seasonal Part-time)

SEASONAL JOB: April - October

Pay: $16 an hour for 25 hours a week ($400 per week)

SITE RESPONSIBILITY: Camp Ken-Jockety

RESPONSIBLE TO: Camp Ranger/Properties Director

SUMMARY: Maintain and improve Girl Scout land in accordance with Council requirements and applicable safety, health and accreditation standards, in order to serve the program needs of Girl Scouts and other site users.

SKILLS: Effective communication, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate with others in a pleasant and helpful manner; basic math skills and understand formulas, graphs, charts and maps. Ability to read and interpret documents.

Problem solving; able to respond effectively to inquiries and complaints; safety awareness; property security; general maintenance skills.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: Assist with the maintenance of properties in accordance with all regulatory

standards, such as the EPA, OSHA, state and local codes. Help maintain the cleanliness and visual quality of program site features and landscaping.

Maintain good public relations with Girl Scout volunteers, vendors, members of the public and fellow Council employees. Work with other Rangers in order to help maintain other council property.

Perform other duties as assigned by either the Camp Ranger/Project Manager or the Properties Director.

Actively support the Council's commitment to diversity and equal employment opportunity policy.

Understand and operate within Girl Scout policies, standards, and procedures. Utilize the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and Journeys pathways to provide an informal, value centered, educational experience to the membership while actively supporting the council’s Strategic Learning initiative.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge and skills in trades. Ability to safely operate power equipment, tractors,

vehicles, gators, mowers and various other tools and equipment

At least one year previous employment, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess reliable transportation, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and valid insurance. Frequently required to: stand, walk, bend, climb, walk rough terrain, and reach with arms and hands; lift or move up to 75lbs; maintain close, distance and peripheral vision, as well as focus.

Occasionally be required to work in very tight, confining spaces, or under extremes of either hot or cool temper.
