Purpose
A graduate engineer is required to assist in the delivery of a wide variety of project work at InterGen’s Spalding gas-fired power plant, comprising an 860 MW CCGT and 300 MW OCGT. This 2 year placement will undoubtedly open up many longer term career opportunities, as the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to complement their academic studies by gaining a deep appreciation of the technical and business realities of operating a large modern power station.
Summary
Working closely with existing engineering and maintenance teams (primarily the mechanical engineer)
You will be supporting the planning and execution of planned outages, plant improvement projects and troubleshooting.
You will gain direct exposure to a full range of power plant equipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, pressure equipment, electrical apparatus and control systems. As your experience grows, you will be empowered to manage contractors on site, monitoring progress at the workface to ensure all work is completed safely, to the correct quality, to time and on budget.
You will be engaged in auditing plant processes and providing compliance reports to the management team, as well as taking responsibility for action plans to drive continuous improvement.
You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the performance engineer, to assist with the application of the latest analytical and predictive tools for optimising plant performance, reliability and flexibility.
