QUALIFICATIONS

Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a

journey-level mechanic, including some experience in the maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of

gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, and set up and sharpening of reels and bed knives.

Minimum of two years golf course experience preferred.

JOB FUNCTION

Implements a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all equipment; makes

major and minor repairs on a variety of gasoline and diesel-powered equipment; keeps all

equipment in efficient, operable condition at all times; maintains a record of service and repairs;

organizes and maintains a clean service area and maintenance building.

Required Qualifications:

 High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.

 One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience

and/or training preferred.

 Valid Driver’s License.

 Requires a working knowledge of the general operation of gasoline, diesel and electric powered

equipment, the proper methods of servicing golf course equipment, and the repair and adjustment of

power mowing equipment.

 Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division).

 Speak English ( Spanish a plus) and have ability to understand and follow oral and written direction

 Requires a mechanical ability; ability to use common mechanical tools.

 Requires and ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees and the

public.

 Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

 Requires assisting in a clean and well-organized parts inventory room.

 Requires adhering to proper recycling and/or disposal of various oils, compounds and other fluids

(antifreeze, oil filters, etc.)

 Requires assisting in an effective, daily inspection of golf course maintenance equipment.

 Must maintain and complete records of preventative maintenance and repairs performed on equipment.

 Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in

following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
