Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The GM, Research & Insights reports directly to the Director, Head of Data, Measurement & Analytics. The position supports the entire Dish Media team with media research, consumer insights, and industry intelligence (currency/measurement). The role is responsible for vendor review and management of all research resources to support sales strategy and drive revenue; leads a team that is responsible for media research; positioning the value of advertising solutions, and translates market research into insightful and compelling sales stories that position the core assets of Dish Media, Dish and Sling TV, as a must-buy.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership in Video Measurement & Research (Linear, Advanced TV, CTV).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in media research best practices and as a point-of-contact for corporate-wide research requests involving:
    • Viewership
    • Industry Insights
    • Media Currency
    • Measurement
    • Broader economic & marketplace predictions
    • Competitive market intelligence
  • Help craft our narrative around WHY DISH Media - what are successes, and strengths that we can showcase about our audiences, offerings, etc?
  • Responsible for top-line analytics and reporting of National, DISH television, and Sling TV viewership trends.
  • Work with sales leadership and marketing to develop off-the-shelf research materials, and case studies, and leverage resources for media kits, upfronts, and custom presentations.
  • Monitors and evaluates industry and market trends using Dish Media tools and other resources; reports key findings to sales leadership and other department leads.
  • Oversees vendor selection and negotiation of Dish Media’s licensed research services to support sales strategy and drive revenue. This includes quantitative, qualitative, competitive intelligence, 3rd party data, and sales prospecting tools.
  • Represent DISH Media at Industry events and on Industry Panels
  • Leads, coaches and motivates research team members on projects to compile, analyze and interpret data.
  • Develops team members to translate research findings into concise and effective customized presentations and marketing pieces.
Skills, Experience and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 12+ years of related experience with at least 2+ years in a Media Sales organization
  • Expert presentation and client interaction skills.
  • Ability to provide thought leadership opinions/insights in research within the linear addressable, advanced TV/CTV, programmatic space.
  • Strong knowledge of Media Research methodologies, National Media Measurement and Media Currencies/Alt-Currencies, and Advanced advertising.
  • Experience with Digital Video / TV metrics and expert knowledge with how TV media buying works.
  • Experience working with syndicated audience measurement tools/data (Nielsen, comScore, GfkMRI, Simmons, Scarborough).
  • Ability to analyze and translate data-based findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
  • A strategic storyteller capable of utilizing various data sources (DISH internal & Syndicated data) to develop compelling narratives that drive sales strategy.

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
