The Opportunity

MassMutual Fraud Operations plays a critical role in protecting MassMutual and its customers from fraud and financial crimes. The Fraud Strategic Consultant is a critical member of the Fraud Operations Team and should possess great communication skills, passion for learning, industry expertise, presentation skills, technical skills and customer centricity to support new and emerging opportunities in Fraud Prevention. In this role, you’ll be responsible for understanding emerging threats in Fraud across the financial sector, collaborating with other industry leaders to understand what technologies and solutions are emerging in the industry. Also, you’ll be responsible for creating a fraud intelligence program which includes CIAM and Fraud Prevention within Fraud Operations. This position reports to the Director of Fraud Prevention for Digital and New Business channels

The Team

MassMutual’s Digital and New Business Fraud Team is focused on the strategic prevention and detection of the ever-evolving threat of digital and new business fraud, by developing a comprehensive strategy rooted in industry expertise, cutting-edge technology, research, and the innovative implementation.

The Impact:

As a Fraud Strategic Consultant, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Fraud Intelligence

  • Cultivate a deep understanding of risks and controls and how they may impact MassMutual; constantly scanning the internal and external environments for factors, trends and patterns that may impact our Fraud Prevention Strategy and engaging the appropriate resources to address.
  • Monitors industry and legislative developments and continuously updates Fraud Organization to ensure MassMutual stays compliant, competitive, and effective.
  • Identify learning and development opportunities to enable fraud prevention team members to stay abreast with emerging fraud trends and technologies (training programs, certifications, conferences, forums etc.)
  • Partner with external fraud prevention and Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) leaders through online and on-site engagements to learn and adopt standard best practices.
  • Develop a process in collaboration with MM peers to enable organizations to share key intelligence about wide scale fraud attacks and repeat imposters.
  • Responding to external inquiries and present information to external parties (industry groups, clients, etc.) about our Fraud & Control programs.

Fraud Capability Strategy

  • Canvas the technology landscape to identify the top solution providers as per organization’s needs for further evaluation and proof of value.
  • Formalize a program for our organization to identify and assess potential new capabilities in vendors to maximize the effectiveness of our program and keep our program on the cutting edge of fraud prevention, identity proofing and authentication.
  • Partner with product owners, functional leaders, solutions architects, and analytics experts to develop short-term and long-term plans on solutions development need.

Fraud Reporting

  • Help to develop and drive reporting capabilities, focused on demonstrating the effectiveness and success of key fraud and control efforts (KPIs, KRIs, etc.) on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Prepares presentation material and briefs senior leaders on Anti-Fraud regulatory matters across multiple businesses/groups
  • Define reporting standards (KPI) and processes to meet varying stakeholder needs in an easy-to-understand format.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or HS diploma with 10+ years of fraud experience
  • 5+ years of fraud or cyber fraud experience
  • 2+ years of experience in managing or coordinating strategic initiatives or projects
  • Experience preparing presentation materials and briefing senior leadership
  • Proficiency in and knowledge of computer software including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a track record for solving complex problems using techniques such as data mining, exploratory data analysis and predictive statistical modeling

The Ideal Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in insurance industry
  • Self-discipline to work independently to achieve specific goals
  • Self-motivated individual who can be successful in a fast-paced environment, with minimal supervision
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to work productively in the face of ambiguity or uncertainty
  • Ability to deliver complex analysis in a digestible and actionable format
  • Strong leadership competencies with the ability to communicate at a cross-functional level, think strategically and influence decision-making of key stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex information clearly and appropriately handle sensitive information
