Summary

Spire is seeking a Construction Foreman to work in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi operation. This position will be responsible for performing field tasks and coordinating onsite activities of workers involved in the construction and maintenance of the natural gas distribution system.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs work associated with the construction and maintenance of the distribution system including but not limited to: gas leak repairs, abandoning gas mains and services, gas grill and light installation and repairs, gas main and service line relocations, meter changes, station inspections and maintenance and providing welding assistance.
• Reads and interprets plans, instructions and specifications to determine work activities and coordinates on-site activities of crew to accomplish assigned tasks; records information regarding operational data on specified forms and reports; examines and inspects work progress and equipment to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met.
• Assist other Company personnel with the following operations: cathodic protection, odorization, material handling, building maintenance and grounds upkeep and auto shop.
• All other duties as assigned

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

• High School diploma or equivalent and two to three years of related experience and/or training.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record and the ability to drive a company vehicle
• Requires possession of or ability to obtain CDL license.
  

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

• Knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in the safe construction and maintenance of a gas distribution system
• Ability to read, write and interpret work-related documents
• Ability to lead others to accomplish work activities
• Ability to work effectively with limited supervision
  

Physical demands, environment and schedule

• Ability to use hands to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls; walk, stand, climb, crouch, crawl, bend or twist; and lift or move heavy objects. Requires repetitive movement. Includes exposure to whole body vibration. Ability to work in confined spaces and maneuver in awkward positions.
• Includes exposure to contaminants. Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
• Ability to work in very hot (above 90 F degrees) and very cold (32 F degrees) temperatures, and extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. Requires working outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions.
• Requires exposure to hazardous equipment and conditions. Requires exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites or stings.
• Requires wearing applicable protective or safety equipment.
• Overtime and/or travel may be required.
