This Program Consultant position serves as a program expert for the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Employment and Training (E&T) program. This position conducts FNS E&T monitoring with local Departments of Social Services and local Divisions of Workforce Solutions. This position is responsible for completing federal reports quarterly and annually and submit to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

About the Division of Child and Family Well Being and the Food and Nutrition Services:

The Division of Child and Family Well-Being works to meet the health, social and emotional needs of children, youth, and families in North Carolina.

This position is responsible for conducting risk assessments for local Departments of Social Services and local Divisions of Workforce Solutions and provides technical assistance as needed. Assists the E&T Coordinator with contracts, quarterly meetings, and the E&T state plan. This position also provides overall Food and Nutrition Program support as needed. Position operates on a hybrid teleworking schedule. At least 40% of travel is required.

  • Knowledge of Food and Nutrition Services policy
  • Knowledge of conducting audits, monitoring or program assessments
  • Experience working in a consultative capacity
  • Experience with developing plans and reports
Management Preferences:
  • Expert level experience with Food and Nutrition Services policy and procedures
  • Proficient in NC FAST
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word
  • Ability to effectively communicate both oral and written
  • Ability to analyze and compile data
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Good customer service

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in a discipline relative to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of related experience;
OR
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline relative to the program area from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of related experience;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience
