Baptist Temple Early Learning Center (BTELC) is looking for a Director ready to affect change and grow our center to be a high quality Texas Rising Star program. BTELC is a child care center for ages 4 weeks through 5 years old, and afterschool/summer camp for school age to 13 years old.

The Director is responsible for ensuring high quality education including the administration and day-to-day operations of the Early Learning Center are in compliance with Baptist Temple Church policies, Texas Child Care Regulations Minimum Standards, other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

This position will develop teaching staff via in-class modeling, curriculum training, development and facilitation of program curricula, calendaring, evaluations, and provides educational resources for staff and parents. Exercises supervision over teaching/education staff, supervisors/administrators, nutrition, and custodians.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a professional attitude and represent BTELC and its vision and values to fellow employees and visitors alike.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect children, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Collaborate with education coach and teachers to develop and implement Curriculum and Lesson Plans utilizing the STEAM program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Facilitate appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of children.
  • Develop and administer programming, assessments, and reports on the center’s progress and effectiveness in meeting performance standards.
  • Conduct regular visits to observe classroom activities, provide in-class consultation, determine training needs of educational personnel.
  • Develop and implements a communication system with education staff.
  • Develop equipment and materials purchasing plan according to program needs.
  • Develop and monitors the developmental summary report and individual education plan of each child.
  • Collaborate with other agencies to ensure optimal services for children.
  • Utilize the Kid Reports software to input data and maintain the attendance and transition records for reports to parents and tracking information for BTELC (provide notes).
  • Adhere to the Minimum Standards of the Texas State Licensing requirements, and CACFP.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training, parent meetings and parent-sponsored activities; share ideas to improve our center.
  • Certifications and training must be kept current throughout employment in accordance with Texas Licensing Minimum Standards. (Generally, a minimum of 24 hours annually)
  • Receive training to administer medicine and be responsible to administer as per instructions on the official medication form filled out by a parent Keep current inventory of homeroom and classroom supplies and submit request to the BTELC office.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Studies, Elementary Education, or relevant field.
  • Two or more years’ experience as an Early Childhood Education Administrator preferred.
  • Early Childhood teaching, planning, and training of educational activities for young children is preferred; with knowledge and experience in STEM or STEAM based learning curriculums; & knowledge/experience with an accredited curriculum.
  • Two years or more experience in a licensed day care facility, or an equivalency based on higher level instruction hours directly relating to the field and averaging passing C or higher (such as 20+ college hours in early childhood education. Instruction hours must relate to the concentration or a Childhood Development Associates (CDA), or Associate of Applied Science degree in Early Childhood Education (AAS).
  • Applicants with no lapses in employment by a licensed day care over the previous 2 years must have a minimum of 8 hours current training and must further complete an additional 16 hours within the first ninety days of employment.
  • Applicants must be certified and current on CPR, First Aid, Civil Rights, Child Maltreatment, & SIDs (if working with infants)
  • All employees must have a current background check through the State Department of Family and Protective Services, and fingerprints registered through the FBI.

Physical Requirements:

Occasional lifting/carrying of 35 pounds, visual acuity, speech, and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting on the floor, standing, bending, reaching, and stooping to perform the essential job functions.
