The Refugee Resettlement Department provides social services, employment support and educational services to refugees and other immigrant populations in New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Refugee Resettlement, the Education and Engagement Supervisor would supervise a multifaceted team with the goal of increasing the Refugee Resettlement department’s capacity to serve immigrant New Yorkers. The Education and Engagement Supervisor will supervise staff, oversee volunteer and intern programming, coordinate communications and marketing, collaborate on media and social media presence, enhance and build community engagement, and communicate and advocate with external partners, stakeholders, and the community. Additionally, the Education and Engagement Supervisor will work to ensure client awareness of services, and to engage eligible populations creatively and effectively, as well as identify, develop, and actively pursue new outreach strategies, methods, and opportunities.

Community Engagement

· Design, plan, and implement educational, recruitment focused, and advocacy related outreach initiatives. Work across programs in the department to respond to outreach and community engagement opportunities.

· Assess and continue to implement overall client outreach strategy using multiple approaches (national and state-level advocacy, information dissemination, developing and enhancing online outreach, community engagement, traditional advertising, etc.)

· Coordinate, facilitate, and plan inclusive community engagement events/meetings for immigration and refugee service providers and clients, including Quarterly Consultation meetings, World Refugee Day, and special events.

· Create, update, and disseminate promotional and educational materials aimed at relationship building and client engagement; collaborate to ensure materials are translated and accessible.

· Implement a centralized approach to engagement by tracking partnerships and their respective scopes, in collaboration with lead contacts of each partner, to inform cultivation strategies for new programming and amplify reach internally and externally.

· Regularly assess community needs, oversee client feedback survey, and proactively and thoughtfully integrate client feedback into programming.

· Responsible for departmental reporting on media and community outreach and engagement; liaise with Partnership & Community Engagement Manager and media contacts as assigned.

· Plan, attend, and/or exhibit at relevant conferences and events to promote and explain Refugee Resettlement programs, nurturing trusting relationships with community leaders to engagement and outreach efforts.

Education and Resource Coordination

· Supervise Employment & Education Trainers who provide topic-specific classes such as employment preparation, cultural orientation, health and wellness and more, following program guidelines which are tailored to clients’ needs.

· Strengthen existing strategy for client attendance and track contract-specific data on attendance and services provided.

· Organize and share resources for the department, inclusive of higher education resources, English language learning resources, and vocational training opportunities.

· Collaborate with supervisors internally to ensure program goals are being met and promote teamwork, communication, and growth.

Supervision and Administrative

· Supervise Volunteer and Partnerships Coordinator and Americorps VISTA members to oversee the volunteer and intern program, including rapid response initiatives as they develop: ensure that performance, outcomes and other targets are met; monitor service delivery to ensure contract compliance; oversee preparation/submission of project and data reports.

· Conduct an assessment and evaluation of existing volunteer program; Analyze results and improve recruitment, retention, communication, sustainability, and effectiveness; Drive efforts to diversify recruitment partners, build sustainable relationships, and formalize tracking systems.

· Mentor and train other staff on volunteer relationship management skills; oversee volunteer recruitment strategy and operations, review and refine volunteer onboarding, management, communication and recognition protocols.

· Contribute to proposal writing and management, including liaising with CCUSA (Catholic Charities USA), Parishes Organized to Welcome Immigrants and Refugees (POWIR), and new opportunities as they arise.

· Administer the Quarterly Consultation meeting, known locally as the Refugee & Asylee Service Providers (RASP) Meeting, including coordinating with Resettlement Agencies in NYC, ensuring required parties are in attendance, schedule relevant presentations, and manage communications.

· In collaboration with other staff, oversee planning for RR’s annual World Refugee Day event, including logistics, and coordinating with key community partners.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education and/or experience required:

· Bachelor’s Degree, in human services, non-profit management, or a similar field of study. Comparable years of related professional work may be substituted.

· Minimum of three (3) years' relevant work experience.

· Minimum of two years of experience supervising staff, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training.

· Experience with proposal writing, project implementation and management.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

· Highly motivated self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and manage time effectively.

· Excellent presentation, communication, facilitation, leadership, advocacy, organizational and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to manage deadlines and high-volume communication in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail.

· Superior skills in Microsoft Office and Outlook; ability to use multiple database systems;

· Ability to work collaboratively and with staff and stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.

· Record of building mutually beneficial partnerships with organizations.

· Knowledge of current advocacy issues in immigration affecting immigrants and refugees.

· Bilingual, English and one of the predominant languages of the local client base (included, but not limited to: Spanish, Haitian-Creole, French, Ukrainian, or Dari/Pashto)

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally 9:00am to 5:00pm Monday -Friday. Additional hours may be required to meet program deadlines, or client needs.

· Ability to travel regularly throughout the service delivery area at least 50% of the time using reliable transportation, traversing streets, ascending/descending stairs, and exposed to outside weather conditions.

· Remain in a stationary position at a workstation and use a computer approximately 40% of the time.

· Position will hybrid – working approximately 3 days per week in-person and 2 days from home.
