DUI Counsleor —Coras Wellness and Behavioral Health


Coras is seeking a self-driven, enthusiastic, and encouraging person to be an integrate piece in the success of individuals in need. We are actively recruiting for a DUI Counselor in Newark staff. The DUI Counselor has experience delivering case management, outreach, individual, group, and psycho-education services to adults with substance use and mental health disorders. He/she will have experience in the development of individualized treatment plans based on the client’s needs to include the coordination of referral agents and other services needed to reduce barriers to treatment. He/she will be experienced in assessment and in delivery of a wide range of clinical and support services. Duties of the position:

  • Delivers individual, group and assessment services to a caseload of persons with substance use and mental health disorders. May have primary responsibility for liaison with TASC and/or Division of Family Services in the delivery and reporting of assessment and other services.
  • assurance that written assessments are completed within assigned time frame and using the approved instruments
  • preparation and presentation of treatment plans and reviews within required time frames
  • Provides education and works as an advocate for the client in the community.
  • Participates in treatment planning and case conferences with other staff and with other agencies.
  • Adheres to PM 46 regulations, and 42CFR and 45 CFR confidentiality requirements.
  • Encourages staff/clients while demonstrating self-initiative in problem solving.
  • Ensures all client records are maintained according to agency standards, policies and procedures.
  • Engages in professional development. Responsible for keeping current in the field. Completes seminars and/or continuing education programs, as appropriate to update knowledge about addiction and mental health services.
  • Completes annual educational program as required.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies
  • Participates in the development of quality improvement activities designed to enhance agency and program services

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Health, Psychology, Human Services, or related field with at least three (3) years of supervised work experience in the substance abuse treatment field.
    • Full certification as a certified alcohol and drug counselor in the state of Delaware; or
    • Full certification by a nationally recognized body in addictions counseling; or
    • Five (5) years of documented clinical experience working in the field of substance abuse and/or mental health treatment
      • Excellent ability to work with clients with substance abuse, co-occurring and/or mental health disorders
      • Valid driver’s license in good standing with at least 3 years minimum continuous driving experience with no serious traffic infractions.
  • Preferred Education
    • Master’s degree in a counseling or social work

Additional Qualifications:

  • Computer knowledge of MS Office, and other HR applications is a plus, not required.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be proactive, organized, and possess great follow-up skills.
  • Must have the skill/ability to collaborate, partner with, and provide exceptional customer support to a variety of affiliate partners within the organization.
