DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Analyze data in Cassandra and other cloud database management systems and performs production-related activities including the recovery of failed processes, working with upstream or downstream teams to resolve system dependencies, finding root cause analysis for production issues, and update the issue management team. Analyze the failed and abend process in production, taking care of recovery and finding the root cause. Review the automatic workload repository (AWR) report from database management systems and fine tuning the long-running SQL queries. Identify issues and document corresponding resolutions for everyone in the teams to reference. Analyze the disk usage in the database and application servers and setting up file retention and data purging policies per the business requirements. Create necessary database backups for safe recovery points. Automate batch jobs using scheduling applications, test automated jobs, and promote jobs across various regions.Telecommuting permitted up to 60% of the week.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field of study plus 3 (three) years of experience in the job offered or as Database Management, Software Engineer, Consultant (IT), or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field of study plus 5 (five) years of experience in the job offered or as Database Management, Software Engineer, Consultant (IT), or related occupation.

Skills Required: Requires experience in the following: Cassandra Database engine; CQL (Cassandra Query Language); Performance Tuning; Viewing database models in Erwin; Scripting in Python; Kubernetes; Using Data Stax Enterprise for Cassandra Database maintenance and management; and Grafana Metrics, Dynatrace, or Splunk.
