Banning Lewis Academy is seeking a highly-qualified Credit Recovery Teacher in Colorado Springs, CO dedicated to providing a superior education for all students in our upcoming 2023-2024 school year! At Banning Lewis Ranch, we serve students in Grades K-5. Highlights include our Capturing Kid's Hearts Program, Celebration of Learning Nights, 5th Grade Capstone Field Trip to Washington DC, and a well-rounded student schedule that includes Spanish, Art, PE, Music & Technology.

At Banning Lewis Prep, we serve students in Grades 6-12. We carefully transition students into Middle School with purposeful social activities and programs as LEAD our leadership development program, sports through the Central Colorado Athletic League, and numerous clubs and electives. In High School, we offer traditions such as Homecoming, Prom, and Student Senate. We focus on Concurrent Enrollment opportunities, Service Learning Projects, Senior Capstone Projects, and college and career readiness (such as online courses, career & technical business programs, foreign exchange program opportunities and much more. At the High School level, our athletes compete in the Tri-Peaks League and have many additional extracurricular opportunities such as Mock Trial, Jazz & Concert Band, National Honor Society, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate collaboration between credit recovery and alternative education teachers to increase the implementation of standard operating procedures for student management and grading of credit recovery curriculum/mastery tests.
  • Collaborate with credit recovery and alternative education teachers to ensure best practices are aligned.
  • Work collaboratively with counselors to update credit recovery description within the course guide, ensuring that all online curriculum guidelines are met.
  • Serve as a liaison between counselors, credit recovery instructors, alternative education teacher, administration, and registrar.
  • Train, assess and facilitate the creation and updating of credit recovery aligned online curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with educational software companies and high school administrators to monitor usage and effective implementation of courseware relating to credit recovery.
  • Coordinate the enrollment of students into credit recovery courseware.
  • Create and coordinate training and staff development on credit recovery software and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration. Knowledge and Skills
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills in order to relate to students, parents, staff, administrators, and community. Ability to negotiate effective working relationships, and develop position resolutions to conflict.
  • Strong organization skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team while maintaining cooperative working relationships. • Ability to communicate electronically. Possess highly developed technology skills.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Professional experience in the employment discipline with professional, technical, and experience requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary will begin at $40,000 and is commensurate with experience.
