Corporate Attorney
Section 1: About the Job
CHANEL is looking for a Corporate Attorney to join our Legal Team in the New York Office. You will play a leading role in corporate/business affairs with a focus on commercial agreements. This role will support the Senior Managing Counsel and is a key partner for all corporate affairs. Our ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience and a passion for risk mitigation.

  • Contract Drafting, Analysis, Editing and Management
  • Draft, review, analyze, edit, and manage (and eventually lead in negotiating) technology and commercial contracts in and across a wide array of subject matter areas, including but not limited to: technology (e.g. software licensing, SaaS), professional services (consultants and subcontractors); construction, and other services.

Risk Mitigation. Empower and counsel Company leadership and stakeholders by analyzing legal risks and balancing said risks with the Company’s business interests. Continuously stay updated on rapidly evolving federal, state and local laws affecting the Company’s business, including, by example, in the areas of technology, data privacy, joint employment, and general commercial matters.

Position Logistics:
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing in New York or eligible to obtain a limited in-house counsel license from the state of New York
  • 3+ years’ experience as a practicing attorney preferably in-house at a medium-sized entity.
  • Strong analytic skills with ability to interpret, adapt and communicate complex information, issues and recommendations
  • Able to handle complex matters, with multiple simultaneous initiatives / a high volume of work that require discretion, confidentiality, prioritization and independence
  • The ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit, excellent business and legal judgment, be a self-starter, curious, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional demeanor
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high-level of attention to detail
