Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Contract Administrator Manager 2 to join its team of qualified and diverse individuals supporting its Strategic Deterrent Division as an OU Contracts Manager. The successful candidate will be a direct report to SDS BU Contracts Leadership and will work closely on a day-to-day basis with the OU Program Managers/Directors, Business Managers, Operations Managers, Capture Managers, and functional teams throughout the OU.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the IM OU contracts’ portfolio delivering strong customer satisfaction, successful financial performance and risk mitigation. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for the direct supervision and management of contract administration/staff personnel, contracts within the OU’s portfolio, and the OU’s captures.

As Manager, the selected candidate will also be required to provide objective-oriented direction utilizing management guidelines, general policies and maintain a strong level of engagement, while dynamically leading, inspiring, motivating and developing a team of contract professionals. This position will be based in either location: Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO

The Contract Administrator Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing and approving contractual documents for protection of the company's contractual/risk posture, satisfaction of contractual requirements and adherence to company policies and therefore a keen attention to detail is essential.

  • Planning and executing successful contract negotiations of a complex nature and achieving targeted profit rates as well as favorable terms and conditions to assist in meeting profit and cash goals.

  • Regularly and proactively interfacing and collaborating with program, technical and operations organizations in order to provide guidance and direction based upon the requirements of the tender and resulting contracts.

  • Making decisions in a timely manner, offering guidance and working cooperatively with a multitude of organizations ranging from technical, program, finance, supply chain, export and security.

  • Serving as a role model for diversity and inclusion through seeking out and including diverse opinions and perspectives, including the ability to solve complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources.

  • Demonstrating commitment and energy to meet customer needs with the ability to provide concise and effective communication through presentation, written documentation or email format with different levels of Management is key.

  • Administering, extending, negotiating and terminating standard and nonstandard contracts.

  • Conducting proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities to provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications.

  • Preparing bids; processing specifications, progress, and other reports; advising management of contractual rights and obligations; compiling and analyzing data; and maintaining historical information.

  • Building strong customer intimacy and employee engagement to assist with growing this important business area.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with 6 years of relevant experience in Contract Administration/Management or Master Degree with 4 years of relevant experience in Contract Administration/Management.

  • Experience negotiating and administering various contract types of varying sizes and types of agreements.

  • Knowledge and understanding of pricing principles and FAR/DFARS as well as associated Federal Contracting regulations.

  • Advanced proposal strategy, contract formation and customer relationships.

  • 1 year demonstrated leadership experience or supervisor experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to use them in informing, presenting, and negotiating to all levels of management.

  • Experience negotiating and administering various contract types of varying sizes and types of agreements with the DoD.

  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Contracts processes and procedures.

  • Must be willing to travel 25% of time as required to support our major programs.

  • Active DoD Secret level security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

This position reports to Huntsville, AL, USA, however, this position can also be worked from Colorado Springs, CO, CO, USA.



Salary Range: $111,100 USD - $166,700 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
