Qualifications


General Description

Performs entry-level tax enforcement, licensing, and compliance work. Administers and enforces tax laws of the state of Texas and collects current and delinquent tax revenue. Travels to taxpayers' place of business to aid and/or conduct compliance activities. This job is a position of public trust and requires a high degree of confidentiality in handling all taxpayer records, information, and payments. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.



This position may be eligible for a flexible/hybrid work schedule if certain conditions are met; working arrangements may change at any time as business necessitates.



Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of the General Educational Development test (GED).
  • Two years of experience with accounting, bookkeeping, a call center, clerical/administrative, collections, record keeping or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Complete copies of college transcripts must be furnished to the divisional hiring representative at the time of the interview for positions requiring a college degree, and/or specific educational credits.
  • Two years of experience in bookkeeping, a call center, or collections.

In this role you will have the following:

  • Using a personal computer in a Windows environment to access agency mainframe computer information and an automated work manager system.

  • Calculate figures and amounts such as interest, percentage and discounts using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Research, interpret and apply tax laws, rules, and procedures.
