BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Childcare Worker for Saturday Family Wellness Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist Program Director or Program Coordinator with the development of program goals and early childhood activities
  • Assist in preparation of lesson plans in compliance with ACD regulations
  • Plan and execute program activities
  • Follows rules of childcare, daycare
  • Work closely with program consultants providing additional program activities
  • Work closely with Program Coordinator on program planning and outreach
  • Implement various early childhood educational, recreational and social activities that foster development and growth
  • Provide classroom management
  • Attend regular staff meetings
  • Attend training sessions and workshops on early childhood education.
  • Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision
  • Act as a liaison with parents
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS: (education requirements and experience should be included in this section. You may include any preferred skills here as well)

  • Associates degree, or high school diploma or equivalent
  • Clearance through New York State Central Registry and New York State Office of Children and Family Services
  • First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Responding to Emergency (RTE) certification, or obtain within 3-6 months
  • Proficiency in English required; proficiency in a second language preferred
  • Experience working in a day care, preschool, or special education setting preferred


Program Specific Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Community Health and Workforce Program teams
  • Work closely with consultants providing early childhood educational, recreational, and social activities
  • Assist with preparing materials, workshop schedule, confirming participants, taking inventory of equipment
  • Implement various early childhood educational, recreational and social activities that foster development and growth
  • Engage children in team building activities
  • Attend training sessions and workshops on early childhood education
  • Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision
  • Act as a liaison with parents
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.
