ABOUT THE ROLE:

Business Development Manager’s (BDM) are responsible for winning new customers via strategic sales prospecting to meet sales quotas. A BDM is directly responsible for identifying and closing business opportunities. The position requires skills needed to execute the entire sales process and deliver outstanding customer service. A BDM is expected to be a reliable professional who balances a results-driven sales focus with a priority of building a book of business through strong relationships.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve goals for new customer wins
  • Cold call for new customers with a "hunter" mentality via internet, phone, referrals, and social media networking, and with leads provided by the lead generation department and leads found independently
  • Responsible for making 75+ calls per day, an hour and a half of talk time per day, and 3 meetings per week (decided upon KPIs)
  • Identify pain points within supply chains of potential customers and sell to their areas of need
  • Understand and rebut objections to further the sales process
  • Maintain accurate sales records, sales reports, and customer information in the sales database
  • Identify and generate new sales opportunities through analysis and discovery, understanding key decision-makers across the entire org chart and determining the appropriate approach for each potential customer
  • Ability to navigate full sales cycle directed by sales leadership
  • Partner with internal teams to create a solution based on customer needs
  • Participate in meetings to present proposals, offer solutions, close business, and attend on-site meetings with customers initiate and build relationships
  • Develop and remain current on industry and market trends with objective of industry expertise
  • Develop and remain current on prospecting techniques, sales skills, and best in class customer service
  • Demonstrate professionalism in the workplace

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1-3 years sales or related experience
  • Experience or working knowledge of the logistics market is required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Driven to achieve outstanding results
  • Strong desire to serve customer needs
  • Demonstrable business acumen and a deep understanding of business sales process
  • 4-year degree from accredited university preferred
