Position Details

GENERAL SUMMARY & PURPOSE:
The Building Operations Assistant II will provide routine building services, print shop support, and
maintenance to all WRESA campuses (The Education Center, Burger, and the Annex). This position
requires frequent contact with campus staff and event attendees. Additionally, the Building
Operations Assistant II will regularly work with contractors and outside common carrier
employees as well as post office personnel in the shipping and receiving areas. This position
provides services that involve building needs and maintenance and directly impacts the health and
safety of employees.
The position requires: 
the ability to accurately follow written and verbal directions and to perform assigned duties
in an efficient and safe manner; 
stamina and physical abilities necessary to carry out the requirements of the job; 
basic computer and word processing skills.
Activity often involves carrying out numerous varied assignments during the workday. The
Building Operations Assistant II should have basic mechanical and mathematical skills and have the
ability to operate or learn to operate the print shop, mailroom, and computer technology, as well as
the equipment necessary for buildings and grounds maintenance. This position may also provide
coverage for the Education Center’s front desk.
Wayne RESA is an agency that exists to support the education of students in Wayne County. For this
reason, Employees must be cooperative, willing to assist co-workers, flexible, punctual, and able to
maintain confidentiality. The Building Operations Assistant II must have reliable transportation to
service all WRESA campuses. This position requires the Assistant to respond to WRESA campuses’
needs after hours if needed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Manages all mail and WRESA shipping operations for all WRESA campuses 
Loads and off-loads supplies and materials; unpacks materials and arranges for delivery
or storage as stock 
Completes all necessary paperwork related to the procurement, receiving, distributing,
and/or storing of equipment, supplies, or materials received by Wayne RESA 
Organizes and maintains the receiving area, print shop, and stockroom locations 
Completes preventative maintenance and/or small repairs on related equipment and
facilities 
Operate all equipment in the print shop environment and meet MIOSHA compliances 
Moves equipment, furniture, files, or other materials as needed 
Arranges furniture in meeting/conference rooms according to Event Management
System requests 
Participates in general maintenance of RESA campuses’ grounds (lawn trimming, leaf
raking, weeding, snow/ice removal, window washing, trash pick-up, etc.) 
Carries out building maintenance assignments, i.e., changing light bulbs, adjusting
clocks, repairing furniture, lubricating equipment, etc. 
Provides requested custodial support, i.e., sweeping, vacuuming, moving furniture, file
cabinets, etc. 
Maintains working knowledge and location of smoke alarms, access control, burglary
prevention/safety systems, HVAC system, and computer systems 
Provides access to authorized visitors to WRESA campuses 
Perform carrier services as required to support RESA activities 
Operates production of digital copying equipment 
Performs minor repairs and/or preventive maintenance operations on production
equipment 
Receives, records, tracks, and produces printed materials in accordance with the
schedule and RESA standards, checking finished production for acceptable quality and
quantities 
Manipulates Word and PDF documents digitally 
Organizes, monitors, and maintains print shop inventory 
Participates in ongoing in-service skills development activities and training programs of
a technical or professional development nature 
Provides relief for the front desk Administrative Assistant – Reception/Event Services 
Supports campus security (may open and close buildings at the proper hours) 
Makes pick-ups and miscellaneous supply deliveries using their own personal vehicle 
Regular and predictable attendance 
Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
  • Associate Degree or equivalent college credits or related certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience 
Minimum of two (2) years of experience related to building and grounds maintenance
required 
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in shipping and receiving preferred 
Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a production print shop environment
preferred 
Demonstrated experience and familiarity with computers and business-related software
Skills and Training 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required 
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations 
Demonstrated mechanical and mathematical aptitude 
Must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License 
Must have reliable transportation to travel between RESA Campuses and off-site meeting
venues 
Demonstrated stamina and physical capabilities necessary to carry out the listed duties and
responsibilities, including repetitive lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds 
Demonstrated basic computer and word-processing skills 
Proficiency in using the Microsoft Windows desktop operating system and Windows-based
software
