JOB DESCRIPTION

Service Writer

Maples Ford is seeking a full-time Service Writer who is ambitious, with great customer service skills, great organizational skills and detail-oriented. Paid training and starting pay will vary depending on experience and increase as you complete your Ford training certifications. Once you complete your certifications, you will be a Ford Certified Service Writer. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Service Writer or mechanic is required for this position.

Service Writers are the face of our business for our customers and the main point of contact between them and our service technicians. It is the Service Writer’s responsibility to meet our customer’s needs in a professional manner, addressing their automotive service and maintenance requirements as well as presenting and selling needed products. It is expected that Service Writers are willing to build rapport with the customer to promote customer satisfaction a.0nd long-lasting customer retention.

Job responsibilities for this team include, but are not limited to:

• Greeting the customers promptly and courteously – attitude is everything!
• Listening to customers and clearly translating repair needs to the technicians.
• Understanding customer’s requirements and concerns; making the customer comfortable with the service being performed and keeping the customer informed/updated during the service of their vehicle.
• Upselling additional services using low-pressure, high-integrity methods.
• Providing accurate repair/maintenance estimates.
• Managing factory and extended warranties.
• Ensuring all work is completed to quality standards.
• Notifying customers when vehicles are ready for pick up.
• Handling minor customer concerns and complaints.
• Keeping Service Manager informed of ALL problems, including potential problems.
• Maintaining Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores in accordance with the Quick Lane standards.
• Maintaining a service customer follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
• Must attend all safety meetings and adhere to all safety standards per policy.
• Keeping abreast of new products, features, accessories and attending product training as required.
• Must be able to manage in a fast-paced work environment with limited supervision, while remaining calm, even in stressful situations.

Requirements:

• Must have 3-5 years experience as a Service Writer or mechanic; Ford or other import experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must have a High School diploma or GED
• Must have great customer service, phone and computer skills. Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer-service mentality.
• Must be able to work with and assist all types of personalities and constituencies and be team oriented.
• Must be able to work a five-day work week, followed by a six-day work week (team splits half-day Saturdays during busy season).
• Daily, on-time attendance is required; must adhere to all timekeeping procedures.
• Certifications – as Ford requires
• Licenses – Prefer MVI License
• Consistent and professional work ethic, ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift heavy objects, work in hot and cold weather conditions.

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
