The Structured Finance Group (SFG) within Moody’s Investors Service is hiring an Associate Lead Analyst 1 in New York City. SFG has a key responsibility for producing top-quality ratings and research with two main areas of focus: assigning new ratings to transactions and surveillance of new ratings transactions across multiple asset classes of structured financial products.

As an Associate Lead Analyst 1, you have an opportunity to join either the new ratings or surveillance team with a designated asset class. The main asset classes include: Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS), Residential Mortgage Backed Securities (RMBS), Asset Backed Securities (ABS), Structured Credit (CLOs, TruPS, etc.). They will develop strong cross-industry knowledge through hands-on credit analysis, methodology training, and collaborative engagement with new ratings and surveillance teams.

The Associate Lead Analyst 1 will analyze the credit aspects of US securitizations, including analysis of the underlying assets, transaction structure, legal documents, and deal-level financial modeling to formulate and substantiate independent credit opinions. They will monitor industry conditions and trends, present transactions and their analysis to rating committees, and identify and write accurate and relevant credit research. As a collaborative member of a change-driven organization, they will also be expected to complete various special research projects, develop in-depth knowledge of one of the structured finance asset classes (RMBS, CMBS, ABS, Structured Credit), and pursue thought leadership initiatives to enhance our analytics, outreach and research impact. They will also gain exposure to ESG credit analytics.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in finance, economics, financial engineering or related field; and 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the following asset classes: Residential Mortgage Backed Securities (RMBS), Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS), Asset Backed Securities (ABS), Structured Credit (CLOs, TruPS, etc.)
  • Highly proficient analysis (quantitative, qualitative) and modeling using Excel
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written) and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate closely with others as well as independently to produce accurate, detailed work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Prioritize and handle multiple projects and tasks with a high degree of accuracy and timely delivery

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $ 104,200 to $ 135,400, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
