Assistant Research Scientist

Amydis is a San Diego based drug diagnostic startup company developing novel, patent-protected drugs - “retinal tracers”- that enable direct visualization of CNS disease-related molecular changes (biomarkers) in the retina. We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual in exploring novel drug diagnostics in our research division. The job requires a quick learner who understands and can assist with microscopy studies and various assays. He/she must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to support activities beyond lab duties such as assisting with data management and organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in new programs related to neurodegenerative diseases including target discovery and validation using molecular cell biology techniques.
• Assist with microscopy studies on brain, retina and other tissues (dissections, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy, assay development)
• Perform quantitative image analysis
• Isolate and run biochemical experiments
• Manage and maintain a clean and well-organized laboratory/workplace
• Work effectively with colleagues from cross-functional disciplines
• Assist in data management and organization

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• A completed High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in an academic or industrial setting is a plus
• Experience and knowledge in molecular biology techniques
• Experience with immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, widefield/confocal microscopy and image processing techniques is preferred
• Experience dissecting animal or human tissues
• Familiar with data and image analysis software (Image J, MATLAB, etc.)
• Attention to details and meticulous hands are highly desired
• Effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent data management skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
• Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
