POSITION SUMMARY:

The Assistant Facility Director works under the supervision of the Director of Facilities and is responsible for the general supervision and maintenance operation of the facility and applicable offsite facilities. Assists with regulatory inspections, participates in safety rounds, committees and participates in construction meetings. The Assistant Facility Director work closely with Facilities Supervisor to ensure routine maintenance and repair work are completed. Participates in interviewing, and development of direct reports, and coaching and counseling employees as needed.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Collaborates with multiple departments to implement methods to validate continuous compliance with the Environment of Care (EOC) and Life Safety requirements though the EOC rounding.
  • Identifies and reports EOC findings and enter work orders for those deficiencies. Monitors work order completion status and determines resources needed to address open work orders and preventive maintenance.
  • Assists with compliance inspections and adheres to all safety, life safety, and equipment management programs as required by the Joint Commission and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Assists with the summaries of findings, recommendations, actions taken, and results of Performance Improvement activities.
  • Under supervision of the Director of Facilities monitors capital projects and facilities related projects, schedules, work hours, and follow up activities with multiple vendors and departments.
  • Coordinates work to address deficiencies, problems, failures, and user errors.
  • Develops and evaluates appropriate staffing patterns consistent with the operational requirements of the reporting departments.
  • Assists with resolving operating issues related to monitoring building systems, plant operations and facility conditions, and ensures follow-up activities.
  • Responds to emergencies, incidents, and shutdowns.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred. The Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) certification is preferred.
  • Three to Five years of experience in facility management in a healthcare environment, technical position.
  • Knowledge of the Joint Commission standards and LS standards is preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge in areas like building, fire, or utility systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Performs light lifting (5 to 15 pounds) and pushing. Reaches above shoulders. Uses fingers of both hands. Walking/standing for parts of workday. Occasional bending, stooping, crawling and kneeling. Access to cramped areas. Responds to situations, which require rapid simultaneous mental and muscular coordination. Has near correctable vision at 13" to 16", has depth perception, able to distinguish basic colors. Has corrected hearing. Works in an area where there are chemicals, which are inherent to the building systems. Occasionally exposed to local exterior climate extremes with additional wind speed. Climbs ladders, occasionally walks on wet surfaces, and walks on elevated platforms.
