General Summary
  • Assists with the creation and management of donor relations programs. Serves as a visible frontline connection for the principal gift donors in order to ensure ongoing support.

Major Duties
  • Manages stewardship of the University’s most generous donors to proactively develop strategies that will grow engagement with the University. Acts as a liaison to University leadership and department teams to provide cultivation and stewardship assistance to individual donors and prospects.


  • Coordinates principal gifts donor recognition through the creation and execution of events, meetings, tours, correspondence, and other strategic actions.

  • Ensures donors are acknowledged and recognized to strengthen their financial support for the University.

  • Creates, implements and monitors innovative programs and projects to steward donors. Ensures the external reporting to donors on endowments and the impact of their gift.

  • Tracks donor relations and stewardship activities in databases.

  • Maintains key relationships with staff associated with a donor’s foundation or company. Serves as primary contact for questions and requests.

  • Ensures compliance on all mandatory reporting requirements as outlined in gift agreements between the University and principal gift donors.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.


  • Three years’ relevant experience.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with office software, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.

  • Familiarity with databases.

  • Ability to provide a high level of customer services to external and internal constituents.

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

  • Knowledge of and interest in current principles and techniques relevant to donor- centric fundraising.

  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state.
