PURPOSE

A key senior member of plant staff/leadership team whose responsibilities include helping determine improvement opportunities and setting achievable goals for the site while simultaneously leading efforts toward these goals and improvements on a department level.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the Process and the Quality Department at the most efficient cement plant in North America.
  • Leads a team of 29 highly motivated employees, 22 Salary and 7 Hourly.
  • Leads implementation of high level control systems, manages the central control room.
  • Optimizes and ensures continuous improvement of the largest single kiln line in the world as well as 2 Raw Mills, 4 Finish Mills, 2 Coal Mills.
  • Understands strategies, priorities, and optimization techniques that assist the plant in attainment of plant and company objectives. Evaluates operations, processes, and trends through the use of audits and systematic approaches (Six Sigma, RCFA, SPC, etc).
  • Provides technical support on implementation of new equipment and/or new procedures including training of plant personnel as required. Serves as coach / mentor to control room operators (Ops Leaders)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas
  • Visible leader and unwavering support for Holcim's safety, health, and environmental policies

  • Provides leadership for all phases cement plant, including organization design, hiring, training, system development, and optimization of the plant
  • Accountable for management and overall results within process area based on defined KPI´s. This includes development of area budgets, capital requirements, major maintenance projects and implementation plans
  • Create, plan, organize and execute short and long range objectives to ensure continued departmental efficiency and effectiveness
  • Responsible for day-to-day execution and accountability of the department area's function
  • Benchmarks and challenges the department to achieve continuous improvement in all areas
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction for the department area(s) in a manner consistent with Our Values, and ensure alignment with plant and company goals
  • Use Holcim systems, such as MAC, SAP, PMA, CBM, , to optimize overall equipment effectiveness at the lowest sustainable cost of maintenance.

Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Required Education: Bachelor's/Undergraduate Degree
Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, business or related field is preferred
Required Work Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of combined management level and cement industry experience in a site leadership role
Required Computer and Software Skills: Computer skills: knowledge of Windows, Excel, Word, Power Point, Microsoft Project Management and SAP.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and communication (verbal and written) skills are required.
  • Excellent management and organizational skills are necessary to effectively perform in this position.
  • Strong skills in creating, planning, organizing and executing long range objectives to ensure continued department area efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning with the ability to create and implement maintenance and process systems.
  • Demonstrated positive employee relations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
