Job Overview

The Air Permitting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the success of completing and verifying client air permits according to regulations. All employees must act with urgency, accountability, and flexibility to ensure Wescom’s core values are always followed. This role is remote with the expectation of bi-annual check-ins in-person. Additionally, two weeks of in-person training and cultural introduction are expected with occasional trips to Duluth, MN to recalibrate personal relationships.

Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:

  • Strong analytical abilities – Thorough understanding of emission quantification, as well as major source air permitting programs such as New Source Review (NSR), Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD), and Title V.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate scientific issues clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical persons
  • Willingness to travel
  • Being comfortable working in industrial facilities/settings
  • Knowledge of data center operations, Air Quality Dispersion Modeling, and combustion source regulations are highly desirable for this position but not required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manage projects, clients, and regulatory agency relations.
  • Understand and adhere to New Mexico and Texas Regulations in reference to Air Quality, Soil Remediation and Reclamation – especially regarding the Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Critically review and interpret local, state, and federal environmental regulations, compile and draft regulatory applicability determinations, and communicate findings, to co-workers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in performing air emissions calculations for permitting, emissions inventories, and annual compliance reporting.
  • Review state, federal, and local regulations for compliance tasking.
  • Implement compliance assistance programs for clients including data management and document review.
  • Promptly respond to client proposal and assistance requests related to environmental projects including Air Quality inspections, spill response and cleanups, and internal and government reporting.
  • Assign crews, assets, and other resources to successfully complete spill clean-up projects.
  • Ensure prompt reporting as required by clients for further reporting including photos, reports, and other documents on projects.
  • Schedule, track, and report on Air Quality inspections and follow up.
  • Short-duration travel to client field sites to conduct periodic site inspections and support air monitoring programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and other vendors ensuring they follow Wescom core values for reporting, sampling, and other required third-party services.
  • Communicate to employees, management & clients with cheerfulness and a willingness to help.

Qualifications

  • Air Permitting experience in Oklahoma, New Mexico, Wyoming, Minnesota and/or Wisconsin is desired.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology or similar OR,
  • 5 years of Environmental Consulting experience specifically related to the Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to externally manage client and regulatory agency relationships and internally manage staff and competing project priorities.
  • Ability to stay focused and complete tasks in a challenging and fast paced environment.

Salary

$65,000/year + depending on experience / salary position

Hours

Expect 40-50 hours a week with a start time of 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM M-F with occasional overtime as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
