Required Degree:

Master’s degree in journalism, communications, English, or equivalent writing major AND ten years of editing work experience.

Must have required degree by start date.

Experience:

Experience in journal production

Experience with editing personal essays

Job Summary:

The Restored Gospel and Applied Christianity: Student Essay in Honor of President David O. McKay co-editor is responsible for helping to edit the 2023 McKay essays. The ideal candidate will have strong editing and copyediting skills and be comfortable interacting with authors to suggest revisions and help their essays succeed.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with the other co-editor
  • Ensuring that all written content has correct grammar, punctuation, and syntax
  • Reviewing that all content is in alignment with MLA documentation and LDS Style Guide
  • Rewriting some text to make it easier for readers to understand
  • Making sure content maintains the spirit and tone of the Faith and Imagination Institute
  • Completing edits in a timely matter
  • Approving final versions of essays submitted by authors
