The Phoenix Center for Rehabilitation & Pediatrics is a 227 bed skilled nursing facility caring for both geriatrics and pediatrics residents. We are currently looking for full time Activity Assistants to care for both populations. At the Phoenix Center, we maintain the highest standard of care and service for residents, families, and our valued employees. We are teamwork oriented and offer a professional working environment.

The primary purpose of the Activity Assistant position is to assist the Activity Director in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Activity Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations as well as our established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and promoting activities based on the needs and interests of the residents
  • Interview residents and families to determine each resident’s spiritual, social, recreational and emotional needs and interests
  • Encourage social communication through group activities
  • Provide programs of sensory training on an individual and group basis
  • Assist residents with leisure recreation
  • Visit residents in their rooms and provide bedside activity programs
  • Document resident attendance and participation level at recreation programs
  • Attend appropriate in-service training programs
  • Assist in transporting residents to and from recreation programs
  • Assist with resident council meetings
  • Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Activity Director

Requirements:

  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other staff members
  • Must have patience, sensitivity, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
  • Possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activity programs
  • Demonstrate good judgment, problem solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to make responsible choices, decisions, and act in a resident's best interest
  • Must have High School diploma and be at least 18 years of age.
