Job Description
Minnesota North College-Mesabi Eveleth Campus is seeking a fixed-term (three years) full-time Welding Instructor who is committed to excellence in teaching and learning; using active and experiential learning strategies; creating a student-centered environment; commitment to teaching students with a wide variety of backgrounds and working collaboratively with colleagues to create a successful student-learning environment.
Position duties include but are not limited to:
- Familiarity with and ability to teach the following processes: SMAW, GMAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, FCAW-G, GTAW, OFW, PAC, and CAC-A.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
- Instruct courses including Advanced Blueprint Reading, Stainless Steel Welding, and CNC Programming and Cutting.
Required Qualifications
Education Requirement
- Diploma in welding.
Occupational Experience Requirement
- Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in welding.
Recency Requirement
- One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) post-secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience with a diverse learner population.
- A commitment to cultural diversity and inclusive teaching.
- A qualified welder with recent experience in the welding field, with a weld certification in one of the processes listed above, and with Certified Welding Inspector credentials is preferred.

Instructors work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits. Under the collective bargaining agreement with the Minnesota State College faculty (
MSCF
), new instructors to the Minnesota State College Faculty system receive an actual salary placement based on education and related experience.
