Job Duties and Responsibilities
Designs and develops web applications using various server-side and client-side languages. Applies university guidelines, W3C standards, and OWASP Top Ten fundamentals to ensure compliance and security of web applications. Creates appropriate documentation for web applications, sites, and related systems. May perform scheduled maintenance and updates on web server software, operating systems, and related architecture to safeguard against vulnerabilities. Develops database systems related to web applications. Consults with various end users and clients to determine and advise on solutions relating to web development or database development needs. Assists content providers with developing and maintaining websites. Works closely with other information technology and information security personnel, both at PSL and NMSU, to meet the demands of the cybersecurity maturity model certification process and helps ensure that web applications and other web assets meet CMMC requirements.
Classification Summary
Under general supervision, codes less complex E-commerce websites using HTML, Visual Basic, or other web-based programming languages. Responsible for maintaining a functioning user-accessible website. May be involved in website planning and deployment. Writes technical documentation regarding the website’s technical requirements.
Classification Standard Duties
Design overall web sites including embedded applications for university client, applying knowledge of university guidelines and expertise in usability. Assist in various projects with technical assistance and solutions to web related issues. Assist in providing university content online, including policy manual, undergrad catalog, executive searches and other content as needed. Perform related duties as required. Respond to client requests including trouble shooting problems, making recommendations regarding web related solutions, allocating web sites and access. Provide tech support.

Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the University’s mission, vision and goals.

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

No previous work experience required.
