The Iowa DPS Academy application process will include the following steps:
Written Exam (POST)- Physical Fitness Assessment (see dpscareers.com for requirements)
- Oral Board Interview
- Online MMPI Assessment
- Polygraph
- Medical Evaluation
- Psychological Evaluation
- Background Investigation
- Must be 18 by the start date of the 49th Basic Academy to be eligible (July 31, 2023).
This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Department of Public Safety. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.
Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.
Graduation and certification from the Department of Public Safety Academy and the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and be at least 18 years old.
