Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Instruction and with the support of an Instructional Administrator, the TK Homeschool Teacher is responsible for the education of assigned TK grade students and will create an individualized and flexible program favorable for learning and personal growth. In addition, the TK Homeschool Teacher will ensure students are learning emotional regulation, language through play, hands on sensory processing, project based learning, language & literacy and Math. The TK Homeschool Teacher will also partner with the student’s coach(es) to provide guidance, resources, and strategies to ensure optimal learning and positive social/emotional development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves and supports students in Transitional Kindergarten.
  • Meets with students and learning coaches at least once every 20 school days to review each student’s work and ensure each student is making satisfactory progress.
  • Ensures students are learning emotional regulation, language through play, hands on sensory processing, project based learning, language & literacy and Math.
  • Provides direct and indirect instruction.
  • Establishes and maintains strong, positive relationships with students and their learning coach(es).
  • Develops customized short and long term plans for each child and addresses the
  • specific individual needs of the student.
  • Prepares students for all required assessments.
  • Collects and analyzes assessment data for educational planning and determines appropriate interventions.
  • Evaluates each student’s progress.
  • Reviews and approves enrichment orders for materials and services that support the
  • student’s learning plan in accordance with school policies.
  • Promptly completes required paperwork and necessary records.
  • Provides an inviting, exciting, and innovative learning environment.
  • Encourages student participation in local and state-mandated testing to measure student performance.
  • Participates in proctoring all internal and state-mandated testing and provides needed preparation materials for students.
  • Completes all compliance items accurately and in a timely manner (examples: master agreements, attendance logs, work samples/records, learning logs, progress reports, assignment sheets, report cards, etc.)
  • Actively participates in SST, 504, and Special Education meetings, processes, and supports as needed.
  • Provides input and documentation as requested by the special education case managers, student support coordinators, and/or service providers.
  • Attends all required meetings and professional development training.
  • Plans and coordinates regional events such as field trips, community service clubs, performances, promotion/graduation, etc. in alignment with monthly and yearly expectations.
  • Serves on school committees, participates in school and community activities, and represents the school as appropriate.
  • Host and support at least one TK focused event per semester.
  • Attend TK focused Professional Learning Community meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various learning modalities and educational philosophies
  • Knowledge of effective strategies, TK curriculum, emotional curriculum and instruction to support all TK students
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and educational programs
  • Professional oral and written communication skills in English, including academic report writing
  • Proficiency in operating standard office equipment including a variety of software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Google (docs, sheets, forms, drives), and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Google Chat, etc.)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, work under time constraints, and be flexible in an environment of multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Must have a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and dependability
  • Must be able to maintain accurate records
  • Must live in the Northern California, Sacramento area and be able to commute to El Dorado Hills

Education and Licenses:

  • Possess a valid California multiple subject teaching credential and meet any other credential requirements
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
  • To serve TK students, educators must meet 1 of the 3 following CDE criteria:
  • 24 units in early childhood education, or childhood development, or both
  • Professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool-age children that is comparable to 24 units of early childhood education, or childhood development, or both.
  • Has earned a valid child development teacher permit or an early childhood education specialist credential.
