Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identifies and recovers students separated from educational system.
2. Functions as case manager collaborating with other school professionals, parents, caregivers, and members of the community to maximize communication, educational opportunities, and deliver health social services to students.
3. Provide psychological and social services referrals to students and families.
4. Facilitate family, school, and community collaboration.
5. Acts as a liaison for students and families to obtain district services, community sand governmental resources and agencies.
6. Provide individual and group counseling to students to help address barriers to academic success i.e. Selfhelp programs, access to career opportunities, higher education counseling, and job-related training for students.
7. Provide consultation to school personnel and parents regarding the psychological and social needs of students.
8. Provide referral and directory assistance to parents and maintain community directory of resources available to parents and students.
9. Assist campus staff with the review of special education forms and procedures to ensure parental understanding.
10. Attend ARD meetings as needed.
11. Encourage and promote parental participation in the ARD process and the student's education program.
12. Provide assistance in resoling critical cases involving students with disability.
13. Assist in developing the student's Individual Education Career Plans (IECP), considering options for alternative education, make-up work/credit, and/or instructional tutoring components.
14. Provide campus-based parent training regarding special education issues.
15. Consult with teachers and administrators regarding students exhibiting behavioral and academic problems.
16. Assist teachers and administrations preparing appropriate behavioral intervention plans for discipline problems.
17. Provide leadership for local interdisciplinary Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Team.
18. Provides specific pregnant or parenting student information to the Student Support Team (SST) and attend if indicated.
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
- Salary commensurate with education and experience
Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines. A campus-based employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester, unless approved by the chief officer – Human Capital Management.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors' Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
- Demonstrated problem solving/investigative skills as required to research inquiries.
- Demonstrated professional expertise in consultation and individual, group and family counseling.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with administrators, school, staff, parents, students and judicial personnel.
- Demonstrated skills in oral and written communications
