St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School, located in Hagerstown, Maryland, is seeking candidates for a full-time Science Teacher.

The Teacher is responsible for all lessons in Science to students in grades 9-12, which will include a high school classroom. The Science program at St. Maria Goretti Catholic High School is a rigorous and very successful element of our curriculum, with students utilizing iPads as part of daily instruction.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and document weekly lesson plans consistent with curriculum guidelines. Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge and engage students
• Provide grade appropriate instructional program within the context of the AOB Science curriculum. Establish reasonable standards for student achievement, updating electronic grade book weekly
• Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols
• Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathic and timely manner
• Integrate iPad and Smartboard technology effectively into a 21st Century classroom

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in the Sciences
• Current MSDE certification, or willingness to obtain certification
• Previous experience in a high school education is preferred
• Must be comfortable with technology to include Google Docs, Smartboards, and virtual learning equipment
• Must have a commitment to Catholic School education and to St. Maria Goretti Catholic School
• Must have the necessary classroom management skills to supervise adolescents
