The Office of Property Valuation has an opening for a Taxpayer Services Specialist II in the Division of State Valuation, Motor Vehicle Tax Section. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to elected officials, staff, and other managers.
As a Taxpayer Services Specialist II for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you will provide direct technical assistance to PVAs and local officials to resolve tax matters.

The Office of Property Valuation has an opening for a Taxpayer Services Specialist II in the Division of State Valuation, Motor Vehicle Tax Section. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to elected officials, staff, and other managers.
As a Taxpayer Services Specialist II for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you will provide direct technical assistance to PVAs and local officials to resolve tax matters.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Confer directly with taxpayers regarding adjustments, outstanding tax bills, or concerns.
- Address situations and makes decisions on how to resolve a taxpayer concern about case resolution
- Assist beginning level specialist, serves as a project leader for resolution of highly technical issues.
- Verify and completes all facets of Taxpayer Registration.
- Research tax laws, regulations, circulars and policies on one or all state taxes administered by the Department.
Additional / Supplemental information:
- Must successfully complete a background investigation including an FBI criminal history record check (fingerprint check).
- Must comply with all tax laws
- Mostly at a desk using a computer and telephone
- Some travel for training and education.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of professional experience in tax records examination, tax administration, tax investigation, or tax auditing.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in tax records examination, tax administration, tax investigation, tax auditing, property appraisal, accounting, business administration, collections or a related field will substitute on a year- for-year basis. Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required college on a year for year basis. Prior military experience will only substitute if the individual received an honorable discharge, discharge under honorable conditions, or a general discharge.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): One year of the required experience must include providing direct technical assistance to taxpayers.

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
