Organization Description:

The Boys & Girls Club of Lewis County is committed to enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We provide a broad range of programs and activities focused on our priority outcomes of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character and Citizenship.

General Description:

When school is out, Club is in! We are preparing to transition from our after school program into our 10 week summer camp program and are in need of several youth leaders to join our summer camp team. Our summer camp program runs Monday - Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm starting June 19th. We will do one week of training and summer programming the week of June 12th. Our summer camp leaders need to be high energy, compassionate, fun people who are willing to design and implement activities for youth ranging in ages from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Camp leaders should visibly enjoy working with children and create an environment that is safe and fun while helping members build confidence and skills.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with youth preferred.
  • Ability to remain poised, positive, and energetic in a busy work environment.
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must have completed high school with a diploma or GED. Must be 18 years old before June 19th.
  • CPR/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens certification (preferred but not required).

Job Functions:

  • Implements activities for youth that give them a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence utilizing existing curriculum from Boys & Girls Clubs of America in addition to local initiatives.
  • Prepared to safely supervise a room of up to 18 students.
  • Establishes a program setting that ensures the physical and mental health and safety of members.
  • Contributes to the creation of the Club’s overall climate for youth development and success.
  • Other duties as assigned.
