Compensation: Stipend ($2320.00 total for the full six weeks of camp)
The Taft Museum of Art (TMA), located in downtown Cincinnati, seeks counselors for its Summer Art Camp.
Summer Camp at the Taft provides an exciting, intensive art experience for students entering grades 1-3, 4-6, and 7-12. Summer Camp runs May 30 through July 14th, except for July 3rd-July 7th. The hours are typically 8 am - 4 pm with occasional after care from 4 pm – 6 pm. Hours are typically 8 am - 4 pm or 10 am – 6 pm.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Learning & Outreach Manager, the Summer Art Camp Intern works directly with master art teachers to facilitate art instruction and recreation for the campers. Duties include preparing art materials for lessons, providing additional instructions to students, preparing snacks as needed, facilitating, monitoring students' break and lunchtime. Below is an overview of each Summer Camp Program
STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 1-3
May 30- June 2 (short week), June 5th-9 th and June 12-16 | 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Our week-long camps for grades 1-3 involves painting, sculpting, and drawing like a master artist. We will also explore the great art the Cincinnati area offers by having visual and performing artists visit the Taft.
STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 4-6
June 19 th -23 rd and June 26 -30 | 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Our week-long camps for grades 4-6 will have you painting, sculpting, and drawing like a master artist. We will also explore the great art the Cincinnati area offers by having visual and performing artists visit the Taft.
STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 7-12
July 10 - July 14 | 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Students in grades 7-12 can take their artistic skills to the next level in this one-week camp session. They will have the opportunity to explore creating art in various mediums while also learning from local Cincinnati artists.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Qualified candidates must be 18 years of age and either undergraduate or graduate majoring in art education, education, or museum studies.
  • Experienced working with children of different age groups (preferred).
  • Must be able to attend a meeting during the week of May 29, 2023
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to create a fun and respectful atmosphere.
  • Excellent communication and must speak English.
  • Great working with young children and teenagers.
  • Creative and love the arts!
