Job Purpose

Provides critical IT Support to the IT organization and business by partnering with others to determine the best way to use information technology to solve business problems. Performs strategic analysis for future system and technology investments and develop plans to implement them. Ensures that IT projects use the right technologies to meet the user's business needs. Serves as a multi-disciplined, subject matter expert on existing systems within the company as well as current technologies, BSS/OSS applications, and vendors/providers in the marketplace.

Essential Functions

Architecture Responsibilities

  • Research tools, applications, industry best practices, and trends for OSS/BSS and other applications. Evaluate this new technology and identify potential fits for the company's architectural direction (20%)
  • Lead efforts to create plans or roadmaps for Company Applications, Infrastructure, Data and Information Security that matches business plan and addresses current pain points (20%)
  • Lead the efforts to create and maintain Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery plans (10%)
  • Lead Application Rationalization planning efforts (10%)
  • Plan and document standard web services / APIs (10%)

Technical oversight responsibilities

  • Review / approve technical designs for ADM (application development and maintenance) based on the degree they meet business requirements, security requirements, use standard APIs and best practice (20%)
  • Assess the quality of ADM staff through code reviews, architecture reviews, application test results, etc.(10%)

Education

  • Four years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

Experience

  • 12+ years Telecom/Service Industry experience in multiple areas including software design and development, billing, customer care, provisioning, force management, and networking
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to provide customer-oriented IT support and consultative services to internal clients
  • Experience leading Software development teams
  • Project management experience including budget management
  • Experience with CBT's existing legacy and operation support systems
  • Application data and network security
  • Application architecture and planning

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Deep and wide knowledge and understanding of numerous information technology areas
  • Extensive knowledge of IT service companies who have expertise in the communication/telco/network provider arena, including working relationships with people and companies who have helped companies automate their business
  • Good communication, human relations, and networking skills in order to work with business partners to develop system plans
  • Ability to assess long term benefits and assign priorities based on those business benefits
  • Ability to incorporate wide-ranging data, technology, and stakeholder inputs, opinions, motivations, and goals to create a common strategic plan
  • Ability to effectively influence peers, executives, and business partners to agree to a common strategic plan.
  • Enough financial savvy to be able to assess financial investment and potential return when evaluating potential system solutions
  • Demonstrated success in managing IT personnel, and managing development and implementation of large scale IT systems

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Oversees the work of outsourced vendor resources to ensure deliverables are met
  • May lead work teams as needed
