A Engineering Manager job in Jacksonville, FL is currently accepting applications. This is a full time direct hire position with our key aerospace client. In this role, you will work closely with other departmental managers and customers to define and execute the product vision, In addition, this role involves helping to build our aftermarket business. To be considered you will have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution and Minimum 8 years of increasing responsibility in aerospace with Minimum 5 years in management.

Engineering Manager Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Engineering team to high levels of performance and ensure application of effective and efficient project management processes.
  • Recruit, train, maintain and direct a talented engineering organization with strength in various disciplines.
  • Provide overall mentorship to a team of technical contributors and ensure the 'voice of the customer' is inherent in all design efforts.
  • Work directly with clients on all aspects of engineering to manage customer expectations.
  • Implement new manufacturing processes and procedures to support the company"s growth plans.
  • Directs the activities of the manufacturing engineering group including the preparation of the technical portion of new business proposals and the performance of 'make vs buy' analyses.
  • Identify, justify and implement manufacturing improvements and provide sustaining engineering support to production to improve manufacturing costs.
  • Leverages and coaches lean and six sigma tools to drive improvements.
  • Track and report the results and effectiveness of current and proposed processes.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal departments to analyze data and provide solutions to issues.
  • Develop, monitor and maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions with Finance, Business Development and Manufacturing.
  • Partner with commercial organization to grow our OEM and aftermarket business. Create technology roadmap to support aftermarket growth in spares and commercial repair station opportunities in structures.
  • Owns CAPEX budget for new equipment/capabilities and drives team to generate financial justification, equipment selection, and implementation.
  • Manage the product development cycle of new products from concept to launch, including specification, design, validation, testing and certification.
  • Drive design for manufacturability best practices and partner closely with manufacturing leadership to ensure the smooth introduction of products into volume production.
  • Drives continuous improvement by implementing value add/value engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.
  • Manage the business unit"s intellectual property portfolio.
Engineering Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Masters of Business Administration or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in engineering management in a manufacturing technology organization.
  • Minimum 8 years of increasing responsibility in aerospace engineering.
  • Significant project management experience required.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience building high-performance teams.
  • A proven track record of leading technical contributors.
  • Proven competence hiring, training, and managing high quality individual contributors and engineering managers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Capable to quote future work for engineering and manufacturing efforts.
  • Able to create and hold labor, expense and capital budgets.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Solid capabilities with MS office and related software, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Catia v5, and MS Word.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a US Passport.
Preferred experience includes:
  • Depth of experience in mechanical aerospace engineering. Familiarity with multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with machining, fabrication and metallic and composite aerostructures manufacturing assembly processes.
  • Experience in AS9100 and FAA repair station environment.
  • Strong customer service skills managing multiple clients in a high volume and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in FAA repair station in aerostructures.
  • The ability to drive end-to-end product development lifecycle.
  • Ability to create and refine a shared vision across key stakeholders through developing relationships and clear timely communication.
