Job Summary
My client is urgently seeking a SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) Super User in Long Beach, California. The SPI SU classification is specific to individuals with advanced knowledge of SPI and a working knowledge of Instrumentation/Control Systems standards and practices.

Education
High School Degree or Equivalent
Associate degree in applied sciences in Engineering or Design preferred

Responsibilities and Duties
The following are considered as main roles and responsibilities of SPI Super User I/II for:

• Strong understanding of P&ID’s, complex wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, complex Loop drawings, specification sheets, installation details (hookups); and their implementation in SPI
• Strong working knowledge and experience with SPI Engineering and Design Modules
• Strong understanding of various control system platforms: DCS, PLC, Triconex, etc.
• Strong understanding of I/O types: AI, AO, DI, DO, etc.
• Strong understanding of Instrument Indexes and I/O lists
• Practical experience with Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and CAD applications
• Minimum of 5+ years of industry experience with SPI modules (Engineering and Design)
• An SPI Super User will have the following SPI capabilities:
• Manipulation of IO assignment and Control System Tags using all provided SPI functions (Excluding SQL and Import Utility)
• Cross-wiring functions
• Strong understanding of ESL layouts and proper macro, redlining, and smart text implementation
• Creation of General signals for Power, MUX, etc.
• Strong understanding of Local signals and their implementation
• Creation of advanced apparatus groups: Relays, Isolators, Analyzers, etc.
• Strong understanding of the creation of Foundation Fieldbus instruments, segments, IO association, multi-input devices, and drawings
• Performing comparisons between revisions and retrieving revision data for SPI documents
• Strong understanding of Engineering Data Editor (EDE) Browser Views, Filters, and Sorts
• Strong understanding of SPI preferences and their impacts on SPI functions
• Advanced utilization and understanding of SPI supporting tables and their impacts.
• Creation of SPI ESL layouts and proper macro, redlining, and smart text implementation
