Job Description
The Speech Therapist plans, directs, and administers the Speech Therapy Service for home health clients following current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations to ensure the highest degree of quality care at all times. He or she helps restore clients to their previous state of fitness after surgery, illness, or accident.
The ideal candidate has a degree from an accredited program in Speech Therapy, a license to practice Speech Therapy in this state, and at least one year of experience in an outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Establishes a treatment plan in consultation with the physician and revises it with the approval of the physician as necessary
- Undertakes patient assessments
- Performs controlled speech therapy exercise assessments with patients and administers exercise plans with patients
- Works with patients who have difficulty swallowing or eating
- Performs E-stimulation when necessary
Qualifications
- Degree in Speech Therapy in an Accredited Program
- Current state license as a Speech Therapist
- At least one year of relevant experience is required
- Certificate from an Alzheimer’s 2-hour course
- Certificate from an HIV/AIDS 4-hour course
- Current CPR Card from the American Heart Association
