The Senior Transportation Analyst is the lead for the Great Lakes and East Coast Marine Operations team’s financial accounting, reporting and analytics by analyzing and consolidating KPIs and cost metrics, supporting ad-hoc analysis, data extraction and reporting while also supporting cost saving and network optimization initiatives of the US Supply Chain group. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that all Great Lakes and East Coast marine vendors are being paid timely and accurately, along with managing daily vendor communication and relations. This position is a critical component in tracking and reporting on the marine team’s operational metrics to drive improvements in strategy. This position requires in depth knowledge of the industry and logistics practices to monitor and support key responsibilities of the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support daily both Great Lakes and East Coast cement operations and Modal Managers.
  • Work closely with barge operators and Holcim terminal networks to effectively schedule and deliver material when and where it is needed.
  • Work closely with cement plants on coordination of inbound raw materials via vessel, inclusive of scheduling and executing deliveries.
  • Support both Great Lakes and East Coast cement operations with purchase order creation, invoice processing, and reconciling of discrepancies with ABS and vendors.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas.
  • Prepare, analyze, and report on loading rates for each plant and discharge rates at the terminals.
  • In support of the Manager, prepare and execute the daily communication to the terminals on ETA’s and delivery quantities when appropriate.
  • Assist with the development and execution of the tactical daily delivery schedule.
  • Work closely with the Planning and Performance group by monitoring, reporting and driving improvement in the Supply Chain process.
  • Act as a liaison to terminal operations, sales, and finance groups working to ensure data accuracy.
  • Assist in providing variance and root-cause analysis on distribution results.
  • Assist in monitoring KPIs and reporting using SAP and Qlikview, inclusive of data entry.
  • Assist the daily dispatch needs of designated operations, and be able to support alternate modes of transportation.
  • Work with Sales & Planning teams to translate supply plans into transportation schedules.
  • Assist in updating scheduling software and/or tools to reflect current transportation plan.
  • Support ISC Team with reporting and ad-hoc projects as needed

  • Maintain accuracy of transportation tracking tools.
  • Maintain and publish transportation schedule to reflect changes due to any circumstance
  • Operator/Carrier performance tracking and KPI’s
  • Maintain good working relationships with Operators/Carriers and Terminals
  • Participate in or Lead Supply Chain and/or Health & Safety projects

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER JOBS

  • Works closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Sales organizations, including Dispatchers, Supply Planners, Shipping personnel, and Sales and Territory Managers
  • Communicates and coordinates changes and issues pertaining to marine transportation
  • Communicates and coordinates with Plant and Terminal staff on issues and remedies

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree required

Additional Education Preferred: Master's degree

Field of Study Preferred: Business, Logistics or Engineering preferred.

Required Work Experience: 5 plus years of related experience. Prior Supply Chain experience and/or experience in distribution is a plus. Knowledge of building materials industry is also preferred.

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Excel, Knowledge of SAP and/or Qlikview a plus

Travel Requirements: 15% travel

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
