Primary Responsibilities:

Join the Mechanical Design team, supporting design and development of Flight Control Systems (Hydraulic, Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical) and Pneumatic Valves from the concept phase to the detail phase. Address issues resolution in a team-working environment; develop design solutions to problems of varying complexity, assuring high quality technical content and timely closure. Prepare, review and maintain the Design documentations, Drawings, and Technical analyses necessary to support product development and industrialization.

  • Review Customer technical requirements to prepare concept architectural layouts.

  • Development of 3d model concept design of new hydraulic/mechanical/Pneumatic equipment to support technical feasibility studies and economical quotation.

  • Execute components design and modelling activities, with preliminary dimensioning (structural and kinematics).

  • Execute Installation and Assembly 3d models and 2d drawings, adopting design to maintenance and design to manufacturing approach.

  • Execute parts preliminary and detailed 2d drawing, and associate tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure the functionality and optimize the manufacturability of the equipment on the whole.

  • Execute Engineering Change Proposals and drawings update.

  • Execute assigned product design activities in accordance with schedule and budget.

  • Follow all set of quality standards, engineering principles and best practices, internal procedures, configuration management manuals.

  • Interface with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to support best solution for design to cost.

  • Support the Project Leader to manage technical aspects interfacing with the customers and with suppliers.

  • Reporting project status data to Engineering Management in support of periodic project and program reviews, attend teleconference, design reviews and program status reviews.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Aerospace or Mechanical preferred).

  • Required 7+ years of Design experience preferably in an aerospace development environment, including experience in complex projects.

  • Background in Design of Hydro-mechanical components, preferably for the aerospace and defense industry. Mechanical and Pneumatics can be an alternative experience.

  • Competencies:

    • (Excellent) Design Tools (Siemens Unigraphics NX™ 1899 will be a must).

    • (Excellent) Drawings ISO and ASME Standards.

    • (Good) PLM Tools (Siemens TeamCenter ™ will be a must).

    • (Good) Microsoft Office™ Tools.

    • (Good) Dimensioning Tools (KissSoft™ and Siemens VariationalAnalysis™ will be a must).

  • Knowledge of Aerospace Materials.

  • Knowledge of Electrical wiring and Cable packaging.

  • Familiarity with aerospace product development processes.

  • Understanding of design to manufacturing and to cost principles.

  • Understanding of reliability and maintainability concepts.

  • Ability to organize and execute tasks, including supervision junior designer (external and internal).

  • Good written and verbal communication skills at all levels.

  • Team player, demonstrating positive and collaborative attitude.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and strategize for better design solutions.

Language:

  • Fluent Italian and good English (written and oral)
