A day in the life…

As the Sr. Manager Food Safety, Regulatory and Compliance, you will be responsible for managing and ensuring the successful development and maintenance of Russell Stover Chocolate (RSC) food safety, quality, compliance and regulatory related initiatives, with a primary focus on production, warehousing, logistic, and compliance at (RSC) in conjunction with Lindt & Sprungli North America (LSNA). This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring programs to manage and improve food safety, product launches, and on-going product quality. Additionally, you will be responsible for the food safety risk assessments, hygiene and sanitation, and for developing and leading and partnering with staff to consistently achieve high quality and audit results. This includes auditing as well as managing all supporting documentation and corrective actions. Finally, you will be responsible for the Quality support of all new products launched. This will require a proper, documented risk assessment, the establishment of quality and food safety standards, the implementation and training of all affected teams, and regulatory compliance.

What you will be doing…

  • Direct supervision over a team of Regulatory and FSQ Supplier Managers
  • Cross functional collaboration with Marketing, Purchasing, QA, R&D, Consumer Affairs, Packaging Engineering, Project Management, and Sales
  • Ensure compliance with FSMA regulations and the Food Safety Plan is updated and reviewed as required
  • Manage, revise, and maintain the food safety and quality systems to ensure certifications are (GFSI, RSPO, etc.) maintained
  • Prepare, coordinate and represent the company during 3rd party, regulatory and surveillance audits
  • Responsible for designing, developing, managing and implementing processes and programs that continuously enhance the overall Food Safety and Food Defense of the Company.
  • Lead the Food Safety Teams (HACCP), as well as manage the Food Safety & Quality internal audit programs, ensuring completion and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor food safety KPIs and work cross-functionally to manage and resolve any issues directly with all stakeholder
  • Ensure manufactured products are produced in compliance with company specifications, policies and government regulations such as: Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Hazard Analysis (HACCP) and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Provide quality and food safety guidance for manufacturing, packaging engineering, logistics, and other areas
  • Establish and document new programs/procedures. Monitor and maintain work instructions and other related documents essential for assuring compliance with AIB, ISO, FSSC etc
  • Provide guidance regarding the interpretation of federal and state regulatory requirements related to new developed products, revised products, and new raw materials to ensure company compliance
  • Support the QA & Operations teams in the successful execution and maintenance of Company Food Safety initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, Allergen, Sanitation, Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP), ATP trending, Chemical Control, Pest Control, and other company-wide food safety programs
Do you have what it takes?

(Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Proven knowledge of food safety and quality systems (FSMA, GMP, HACCP, GFSI, Auditing)
  • 7+ years of experience food safety/quality/sanitation in the food industry
  • 5+ years in a supervisory role
  • Excellent organizational, analytical & time management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills
  • Proficient working knowledge of MS Office applications as well as access databases
  • Preventive Control Qualified Individual (PCQI) and HACCP Certified (HACCP Alliance) required
  • Expert knowledge of FDA Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 21 related to Food Labeling and Manufacturing
  • SAP knowledge
  • Flexibility on work hours and being able to work on holidays and travel up to 50%.
