Position Description:

The Senior Business Intelligence Developer supports CCMCN’s Population Health Analytics Team. The role will be CCMCN’s subject matter expert on the specifics of Tableau reports under their purview, existing reports available to users, and best practices for developing and publishing reports. This position will engage with internal and external partners to develop reports consistent with requirements prioritized by users with the support of the Population Health Analytics Director. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal and external partners to maintain documentation, support project management, provide technical assistance and troubleshooting, and plan for enhancements. The role will work closely with team members to inform the creation of new data sources as well as to support data integration between reports and third-party applications. The Senior Business Intelligence Developer will function as a highly independent member of the Population Health Analytics Team and will be expected to communicate efficiently and effectively with stakeholders and partners of varying levels, describing projects technically or in plain language as appropriate. This role will also help support the growth of junior members of the Population Health Analytics Team.

Essential Functions:

  • Functions independently as the Senior Business Intelligence Developer in the organization, offering guidance and support to Population Health Analytics Team members, members of other teams within CCMCN, external partners and collaborators, and end users regarding Tableau reports and other business intelligence products and technologies
  • Communicates effectively with all stakeholders to determine required data sources, data structures, variables, layouts, functionality, and maintenance and enhancement schedules
  • Develops visually pleasing, modern, and brand-consistent reports and dashboards
  • Responsible for continuous quality improvement, troubleshooting, maintenance, enhancements, and documentation
  • Serves as the primary contact for data quality assurance activities, and internal and external product validation cycles
  • Manages server and report permissions and row-level security for Tableau reports
  • Effectively manages internal huddles and external partner meetings and communicates necessary follow-up information appropriately
  • First-line of contact for troubleshooting issues and assisting with technical support for users and reports
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, documentation, and training plans for analytics systems
  • Maintains knowledge of business intelligence methodologies, products, and best practices
  • Documents work effectively
  • Maintains and expands knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws, organizational agreements, and data sharing practices

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in healthcare settings, preferably in data visualization
  • 2+ years of experience with Tableau Desktop dashboard development, data visualization, design, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of Tableau architectures, functions, and features
  • Knowledge of data visualization and business intelligence best practices
  • Experience developing dashboards and custom reports, including calculated fields, groups, sets, level-of-detail expressions, quick, global, and context filters, parameters, and varied chart types
  • Proven ability to design Tableau reports for and engage end users around report functionality, balancing visualization best practices with practicality and flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and artistic when presenting complex data
  • Experience with setting, monitoring, and troubleshooting permissions and row-level securities, managing users and groups, and extract refreshes and refresh schedules in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server
  • Experience working with varied data sources and data source connections, as well as the ability to understand the way those sources interact with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server reports and extracts
  • Familiarity with standard healthcare code sets including LOINC, ICD-10, ICD9/10-CM, CPT, and SNOMED
  • Demonstrated ability to set and meet project timelines, budgets, deliverables, and milestones while communicating effectively with teammates
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated change management experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and maximum accountability, successfully managing products and supporting junior team members
  • Detail-oriented and thorough when producing any deliverable, including dashboards, reports, and written documentation
  • Must be flexible, able to prioritize multiple projects, and manage a full workload
  • Ability to attend conferences and workshops for further education, to expand skillset and professional networking
  • Ability to work after hours, if necessary
  • Excellent customer and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with personnel throughout all levels of organizational hierarchies
  • Ability to determine timeliness and criticality of communication with internal and external partners
  • Ability to work as a team member and work effectively with diverse people and demonstrate cultural sensitivity
  • Strong technical writing abilities
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
