Position Summary: Discovery Life Sciences is a globally recognized contract services laboratory that leverages the most current technologies to comprehensively support discovery, translational, and clinical research for the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Diagnostic industry as well as Academic and Research Institutes. The successful candidate will help build testing pipeline, support validation efforts, and execute clinical flow cytometry testing in clinical trials studies. This role will be important in the continued growth of Flow Cytometry within the company with an opportunity to work and grow in a fast-paced environment and make an impactful contribution to the growth of Discovery Life Sciences.

Education Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related discipline.
  • OR -
  • BS/MS in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Immunology, or related discipline and must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience relevant to this position.
  • Industry experience is a plus.

Qualification/Experience :

  • General laboratory skills and knowledgeable in analytical methods and techniques.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and work in a multidisciplinary team. environment, under guidance and supervision.
  • 2+ years of experience in Flow Cytometry
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and ability to do general lab calculations.
  • Computer skills to include FlowJo (or similar), Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneDrive and Google Docs.
  • Working knowledge of universal precautions and handling of human specimens.
  • Working knowledge of flow cytometry development/validation projects including experimental design and execution, and data analysis and interpretation.
  • Ability to summarize experimental results for reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Experience with highly specialized laboratory equipment (flow cytometers, cell sorters, etc.)
  • Ability to operate effectively in a flow cytometry function with clear focus on deliverable goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
  • Self-starting ability with exceptional time and project management skills.
  • Ability to handle high stress situations with ease while maintaining a positive and productive attitude.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Delivery of high-quality data and reporting in a timely fashion and within scope and budget with accountability for accuracy.
  • Analysis review and signoff.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot flow cytometry instrumentation to support client biomarker development projects.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of all aspects of flow cytometry workflows including experimental design, sample analysis, data analysis, and summarize data for client reports, presentations, and publications.
  • Perform advanced sample preparation techniques from complex biological systems for protein isolation from cells and tissues.
  • Train laboratory personnel in equipment, existing and new protocols, software upgrades, and process flows.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients and experts from a variety of technical background and with peer level managers to resolve issues that impact the business.
  • Operate effectively in a multidisciplinary matrix environment, providing leadership and insight in the discipline.
  • Delegate assignments, as required, to ensure optimum process efficiency
  • Demonstrate creative and independent scientific thinking to solve complex technical and scientific problems.
  • Respect the privacy of the personal information of patients, co-workers, and all individuals with whom the company interacts.
  • Mentor technical and non-technical staff in areas such as protocol interpretation, method development, study-related problem resolution and technique validation.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the company and its operations.
  • Consistent and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Supervisory/ Line Management Responsibilities:

This position may have responsibility of management including direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of the assigned team and staff. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and managing employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. May manage 1-2 junior team members delivering services in the Proteomic domains. Provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to develop/increase their technical and scientific knowledge and capabilities.
